"If one experiences a flowery spring and a lush autumn, he must admit to himself that it is beautiful to be human." (Kumagai Naoyoshi, 1782-1862)

How right he is, this Kumagai Naoyoshi. One could almost believe that the Japanese poet spent one or two autumns in the mountains of Tyrol and Salzburg during his lifetime. Autumn is not just a season in this country, autumn is the most beautiful color the calendar has to offer. Red apples, blue grapes, golden leaves and the almost non-stop shining sun that puts everything out there in perspective. Nature is in top form!

And we golfers? Yes, we too, of course. Now that the days are getting shorter again and the nights are getting colder, some of us may be dreaming of swinging the club somewhere far away. Or even mothballing it until next spring. Only because usually at this time of the year not only vain sunshine and T-Shirt weather are predicted. And yet it's all the more worthwhile to go out to the golf courses on your doorstep. Enjoy the postcard idyll. You won't be able to get out of your amazement.

Golfing in the fall has its very own charm, but on the other hand it also brings with it some hurdles. The pile of leaves at the edge of the fairway, for example, which suddenly swallows up the ball, or the clouds of fog that make it difficult to see the next green during the round before work or when teeing off after work. But who would even think of complaining with these dreamlike conditions?

And these are our autumn hot spots in the Golf Alpine region:

Goldegg: Here the name says it all! Nowhere is autumn more golden. The lake, the castle and a breathtaking view into the Salzach valley. Already the Celts knew about the beauty of the place and built their settlement here. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy the late summer play of colors of nature on one of the most beautiful alpine golf courses. Goldegg wrapped in a golden robe - this is a unique setting for special moments.

Zell am See: What a contrast program is this? At the top of the Kitzsteinhorn peak, the eternal ice of the glacier glistens in the autumn sun; below, the small lakes that serve as water hazards on the two 18-hole courses of the Zell am See-Karpun-Saalbach-Hinterglemm Golf Club sparkle. The shadows lengthen and the leaves change color as if a magician were wielding his magical scepter. This is unquestionably one of the most beautiful courses in Salzburger Land, picturesquely situated between the mountains.

Maria Alm: With the sun behind you and a smile on your face, there are many autumnal moments to experience here. All this is particularly impressive on the course of the Urslautal Golf Club. A 360-degree mountain panorama - with Steinernes Meer, the Hochkönig and other peaks. Wide open spaces, views, nature, grazing cows, the ringing of church bells and challenging holes. A combination straight out of a picture book and almost a bit kitschy in the colorful late summer.
