Storms and rain are frequent companions, especially in autumn. With these tips, the round of golf in Tyrol and Salzburg province is still fun.

We need to talk. About the weather. A classic small talk topic. Because everyone can always say something about it. Too much rain, too little sun, the forecast for the next few days. The weather is a perfect icebreaker. And that's why there are so many idioms that revolve around the sun and clouds. This one, for example, "There's no such thing as bad weather, there's just the wrong clothes." Golfers and outdoorsmen know this phrase well. Meaning: it doesn't matter if it's storming, raining or snowing - put on the right clothes and get out into the green anyway. If only it were that simple! Let's just take us golfers for a moment. Yes, we love our sport. Of course we do! But it's most fun when the sun is shining and the temperatures are warm. The average Scotsman would probably laugh his head off if he saw the conditions in this country. If you want to be a real golfer, they say, you have to have played one of the island's notorious links courses at least once - in storms and constant rain. Yet that seems to be one of the many clichés. Rain in Scotland? At least on the east coast, where the legendary St. Andrews course is located, it is much drier than on the west coast. Compared to other regions in Europe, however, it still rains relatively much there.

Even if you spend your vacation in the Alps, it can rain every now and then. Sometimes surprisingly. Sometimes for a long time. Sometimes surprisingly long. But vacation is just vacation and the person then usually also more relaxed. Then we play with raincoat and umbrella. So that the golfers in the Golf Alpine region, on the wonderful courses in Salzburg Land and Tyrol, do not get wet, we have put together a few tips:

  1. The most important thing is to think of yourself first. In this case, that has nothing to do with selfishness. After all, what good is a dry club if you yourself are soaked to the bone, everything is dripping and dripping? Therefore: Pack waterproof and comfortable golf clothes.
  2. You should definitely have several pairs of gloves in the bag. To swap. Because the right grip is particularly important.
  3. Two towels already make things easier. One hangs on the bag, another directly under the umbrella. This keeps the racket and handles dry - and the palms of your hands anyway.
  4. Modify the club selection. It can be helpful in such cases to take one more iron than usual. Because of the weather, the wet fairways and the - due to the many protective clothing - limited swing, the ball may not fly and roll as far as usual.
  5. An umbrella holder for the trolley is a sensible investment. There, the umbrella is in good hands during the game. Those who prefer to carry their bag even in this weather should not be afraid to briefly ask their teammate to hold the umbrella during the next shot.
  6. Should a thunderstorm develop in addition to the rain, it is extremely important - by the way, not only in the mountains - not to take any risks and to rather break off the round beforehand.

And no matter what the weather is like, you can always enjoy culinary delights at hole 19.
